Bossman Beard Products Review

Bossman Beard Products Review

Bossman Product  Scents

Amazon has a lot of Bossman products and it can be difficult to find information on the scents. After some snooping around on the internet I found the following information on the smells of the Bossman Products.

STAGECOACH – If the most interesting man in the world were a cowboy, his beard would beg for Stagecoach. This Texas sized blend of rugged leather, sweet tobacco, and aged Bourbon will make your beard look and smell like a gentleman as you belly up to any saloon. Saddle not required.

MAGIC – Warm and intoxicating blend of rich Sandal Wood and Vanilla oils that creates a clean base intended to highlight the Bergamont, Patchouli and Frankincense accents. It was the “original” Bossman Scent for a reason. This scent is perfect for close encounters, special occasions and the days when your beard needs to be as smooth as you are.

HAMMER – The every man’s scent that just doesn’t quit. Geranium and Lavender are masterfully mixed with Vanilla and Patchouli to bring you a strong mechanical smell for the blue collar guy.

GOLD – Our most fresh scent by far blending a mix of woods such as Cedar, Spruce, Sandalwood with a hint of Lemon, Bergamot, Lavender, and Saffron Spice. Gold gives off a clean and invigorating effect that makes any man feel like SOLID GOLD!

Bossman Beard Conditioner

I am an Amazon Associate and I may earn commision from your purchase.

The Bossman Fortify Intense Beard Conditioner is probably one of my favorite beard conditioners. I use this every other day to keep my beard clean and soft. The 4oz bottle is a good size, you can probably go through a bottle a month depending on the size of your beard. The conditioner is white preventing discoloration of your beard.

I would wet my beard, and then work the conditioner through my  beard coating it evenly. Then I would leave it in my beard letting my beard soak up the nutrients while I continued in the shower.

After washing the conditioner out of my beard it felt clean and soft.

Ingredients: Water, Soybean Oil, Octyl Palmitate, Stearalkonium Chloride, Castor Seed Oil, Cetearyl Alcohol, Betaine, Sunflower Seed Oil, Glycerin, Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, Polysorbate 80, Mango Butter, Cocoa Butter, Argan Oil, Avocado Oil, Aloe Leaf Juice, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Panthenol, Rosemary Leaf Extract,Jojoba Esters, Behentrimonium Chloride, Tocopheryl Acetate, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol.

Bossman Beard Jelly

I am an Amazon Associate and I may earn commision from your purchase.

The Bossman Beard Jelly is probably my least favorite part of kit. This product is designed to replace your beard oil and your beard balm. The reason i’m not a fan of this 2-1 is that beard oil and balm are designed to do two different things. Beard Oil is for the skin under the beard, and beard balm is for the beard itself. You have to use to much product and this means my beard felt a bit greasy. I’m not saying this product isn’t good, but I prefer to have two separate products. On the up side, the beard jelly will last all day in your beard. The jelly is white so there should be no discoloration of lighter colored beards.

Using the beard jelly is simple. After getting out of the shower put some jelly in your palms, and work it through your beard, massaging it into your skin and throughout your beard.

Ingredients: Soy Bean Oil, Beeswax, Castor Seed Oil, Sunflower Seed Oil, Avocado Oil, Shea Butter, Cocoa Seed Butter, Tocopherol, Essential Oil Scent. Bossman Beard Wax

Bossman Beard Balm / Wax

I am an Amazon Associate and I may earn commision from your purchase.

I like the Bossman Beard Balm, well it’s more like a wax. This balm will have holding power for all but the biggest beards. The wax is white, so those with lighter beards won’t have to worry about discoloration of your beard.

After working the beard jelly into your beard take a small amount of the beard balm into your palms working it until it melts. Then work the melted balm into your beard. Comb your beard to the shape you wish.

Ingredients: Coconut Oil, Beeswax, Soybean Oil, Sunflower Seed Oil, Shea Butter, Cocoa Seed Butter, Mango Seed Butter, Tocopherol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Essential Oil scent

Bossman Mustache Mud

I am an Amazon Associate and I may earn commision from your purchase.

The Bossman Mustache Mud is probably one of my favorite products of all time. This is a small jar or clay that is used to style your mustache. I used the clay before meals to keep my mustache out of the way, and on the sides of my beard keeping the worst of the frizzy parts at bay. There is no smell or color to the mud so there is no discoloration to worry about.

Though the jar is small it will last a while as you don’t need much to keep your stache under control. Just take a little bit of the clay and rub it between your fore and ring fingers then rub it into your mustache. Once working into your mustache comb your mustache to the style you like.

Inghttps://bossmanbrand.com/collections/mustache-wax/products/mudstache-mustache-waxredients: Lanolin, Beeswax, Carnuba Wax, Caramel, Coconut Oil, Tribehenin, Sorbitol, Ceteareth-25, Caprylic Triglyceride, Polysorbate 80, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Potassium Sorbate, Benzyl Alcohol

Bossman Beard Comb

I am an Amazon Associate and I may earn commision from your purchase.

After the mustache mud the comb is my favorite part of the kit. Why? This metal comb has wide spaced teeth that allow the comb to pass through the beard without the comb getting tangled in long beards. The comb comes with a leather sheath.

Thank you for visiting The Dapper Man we hope you have a fantastic day.

Year Long Beard (Yeard) Week 41 Review

Year Long Beard (Yeard) Week 41 Review

Weekly Beard Update

This week I went to visit family in New Mexico and they couldn’t believe how big my beard was. It’s down to the second button on my shirts, and it is as wavy as every. In bright light you can still see some of the red in my beard, and the gray gives it character.

As usual my mustache was its problematic self, but the mustache wax really helps. Though I did lose a a Kent Comb this week, so that stings a bit. If you’ve never had the pleasure of using a hand made Kent comb I highly suggest you try them out. I’ll put a link below.

Kent Combs are hand made in Kent England. They are a great comb because unlike cheap plastic combs the teeth aren’t jagged and are spaced widely enough to pass smoothly through your hair. The comb below is the one I keep on me and use all the time.

Year Long Beard (Yeard) – Week 39 Review

Year Long Beard (Yeard) – Week 39 Review

Weekly Beard Update

Not much has changed for the beard, the moustache on the other hand is being annoying. It keeps getting in the way when I eat. I’ve been using the Wild Willies Mustache Wax. I really do like it. I keep it in my pocket and use it like chapstick. Just before I eat I apply it to my stache and comb it in. This keeps my mustache in place while I eat. If you have problems with styling your mustache, or it’s always in the way I highly recommend this wax. You can find it on Amazon with by following this link.

Wild Willies Premium Mustache Wax

I’m trying to decide what to do with my beard after my 52 weeks are up. Should I shave it off, clean up the lines and trim it or just shape it, if I shape it do I do round, or pointed.

My current thinking is to clean up the lines on my cheeks and jaw. Trim my mustache, and shape my beard so that it comes to a point.

What do you think would look good?

New Followers & Subscribers

I am saddened to say we do not have any new subscribers to welcome this week. It’s okay, this happens from time to time. I ask that everyone reach out to friends, and family that they believe would like The Dapper Man and spread the word. Because once we hit 100 subscribers I will be doing a give away.

I’ll have more information on the give away once we get closer to our goal of 100 subscribers. Currently we are at 72, so we have some work to do, so get out there and help get us to 100.

Comments & Questions

From Chris G on my 5 Vegas Cigar Review – Chris asked who the young lady with me was. Her name is Rachel and she is a member of my lounge. She kindly agreed to be in my video.

Coming Soon

Some bit things are coming to The Dapper Man.

First, I have everything I need to create my first beard oil, balm, and wax. I have one scent right now, and I will be doing 3 more, and an unscented variant. I will be making my first batch this week, and I’ll give you an update in the next weekly beard review video.

Second, I am going to be filming my Bossman Beard Product review shortly. I’ve been using the products for three weeks, and I’m ready to give my review. So stay tuned.

Last but not least, my used Allen Edmonds are still at Allen Edmonds. If you remember I bought a used pair of shoes off of Ebay and sent them in to be re-crafted. That means they get new soles, new heels, new cork, new welting, new laces, and re-finishing. I’m hoping to get them back in the next week or two so that I can do a before and after comparison, and decide what’s the best way to get a pair of Allen Edmonds for the best price.

XikeZAN Beard Kit Review

I bought the XikeZAN Beard Kit from Amazon and after using the products for a week while traveling I am impressed with the kit. The kit was about twenty dollars and you get  beard oil, balm, a comb, brush, trimming scissors and a bag to keep everything in.

Beard Oil

First thing I noticed was that there is no scent for the beard oil. This is good if you work in an area that doesn’t allow perfumes, colognes or other strong scents. The second thing I noticed was that the oil was clear. This is good if you have a lighter colored beard and are worried about the products you use discoloring your beard. Finally the oil itself is nice and thick. It goes on easily with a wet beard and coats your beard well. This oil helps keep your beard soft and it will nourish your skin.

Beard Balm

Initial Thoughts: The balm is very lightly scented. It smells extremely faintly of honey dew or other melons. Like the beard oil the balm is nearly clear, so it won’t discolor your beard.

If I have a criticism it is that this balm does not provide any hold. If you have a big beard, style your beard, or if you have a fuzzy beard you will need another wax or something that provides hold

Beard Comb

The comb is small, but I consider that a good thing because I can keep it in my desk, travel bag, or car so I always have a beard comb handy if I forget my main comb. The teeth are nicely spaced so the comb will not get stuck in your beard and pull out hair unnecessarily.

Quick Tip: You can impart your favorite scent to your comb by putting it in a ziplock bag and put your favorite tobacco, cologne, or scent in the bag with the comb and let it sit for a few weeks.

Beard Brush

Initial Thoughts: I love this brush, this is now my travel brush. Like the comb the size allows you to keep it in a bag, desk, car. The bristles are stiff enough to provide good styling but not stiff enough to hurt.

Scissors

I did not use the scissors as I am growing a Yeard (year long beard). The scissors had a nice weight to them and the action seems to be good.

Final Verdict

I would recommend this kit for men who are just starting their beards, or people looking for a gift for a bearded friend / neighbor / significant other.

Mail Call! XikeZAN Beard Care & Grooming Kit

It’s time for another Mail Call. This time I’m opening the XikeZAN Beard Care & Grooming Kit.

Why I chose it

This looks like a good starter kit for those who are just starting out their bearded journey, or for people looking for a gift for the bearded ones in their life.

What comes with it

This kit comes with beard oil to hydrate your skin and beard, beard balm to help lock in the moisture in your beard, a beard comb and brush for styling, scissors for trimming fly away hairs, and a bag to keep everything together.

XikeZAN Beard Care & Grooming Kit.
XikeZAN Beard Care & Grooming Kit.

First Impressions

The packaging is really nice, the box is matt black with the XikeZAN Logo. When you slide the box open the items are presented very well, everything is neat and orderly.

The beard oil and balm are nearly clear. This is great for people with lighter colored beards that don’t want to have their beards colored by products. The oil has no scent and the balm has the slightest scent of honey dew.

The comb while small has widely spaced teeth so you don’t tug on your beard, and the brush bristles are stiff but not to stiff to hurt.

The scissors seem to be sturdy, they are well weighted in the hand.

The bag is burlap sack, it is okay for keeping your kit together but I would think you would just use your dopp kit.

Final Thoughts

A full review is coming soon. Once it is posted I will have a link below for it. But for twenty dollars this is a good starter kit or gift for a bearded guy in your life. You can use the link below to purchase the kit from Amazon.

Year Long Beard (Yeard) – Week 10 Review

Year Long Beard (Yeard) Week 10 Review

Weekly Beard Update

Mrs. Dapper Man’s description of the week is “grizzly”.

The beard this week has felt a bit unruly and all over the place. The sides and neck are a bit longer than the chin. I’m hoping that everything will even out soon. Can’t see a lot of red today, but it is still in there on the cheeks. Still not quite able to handlebar the “stache” but getting closer. I’ve started using a bit of a heavier styling balm to keep the beard in shape. I still prefer the lighter beard balms, but I’ll add a very small amount of styling balm just for shaping.

This week I’m smoking Dunhil Early Morning Pipe, it is one of my favorite daily blends. It is an english blend meaning it isn’t cased with anything. Early Morning Pipe is a great all day or every day tobacco and a go to in my rotation.

Year Long Beard (Yeard) – Week 6 Review

Year Long Beard (Yeard) Week 6 Review

Weekly Beard Update

Hello All and welcome to Greg’s Year Long Beard (Yeard) – Week 6 Review. This week we hear from Mrs. Dapper Man and about how she thinks my beard is, and what colors are in my beard.

So what does Mrs. Dapper Man say about my beard, she says it is sheepy. She says my beard was starting to curl like a sheep’s.

Also still seeing red in my beard, not a lot but some. Especially in the sunlight. but the red in my beard is slowing being drowned out by darker colors. My mustache is starting to slowly thicken up, my cheeks are filling in nicely and my chin is thick with spots of gray.

For daily updates on my Year Long Beard Journey you can follow The Dapper Man on Facebook. I post pictures every evening of my Year Long Beard.

Clubman Pinaud 3-n-1 Beard Box Review

I’ve spent the last week using the Clubman Beard 3 Piece Kit and now it’s time for me to tell you if and how I liked them.

The beard oil was great, it smells good, it’s nice and thick and goes on easily with slightly damp hands and beard. The oil coast my beard well and lasts for hours.

The beard balm on the other hand was to tacky for my beard. For now  I have a shorter beard and the balm had more hold than I wanted. It left my beard feeling sticky. I will have to come back to the balm later on after my beard grows to the point it needs a medium to high holding beard balm.

As for the 2-1 Conditioner, I was a fool. I should have read the instructions and I would have known that it isn’t a conditioner like you would use in the shower. Instead you should use it as a moisturizer and rub it into your beard like a lotion.

Would I recommend these products? I do highly recommend the beard oil and the conditioner / moisturizer are good. I’ll have to get back to you on the balm. You can buy these items individually or as a package from Amazon, the links are below.

How to Grow a Beard

Have a Goal in Mind

So you want to grow a beard, that is fantastic. What kind of beard do you want? Do you want a big bushy beard like a wizard, and a mustache you can handlebar? Or do you want a small goat and stache? Do you want something easy to maintain or do you want to try for your Yeard (Year Beard)?

Don’t know what you want? Go to Pinterest and search for beards and scroll through and see what you like.

Stop Shaving

So now that you have a general idea of what you want to grow the next step is to stop shaving. I know this sounds silly but you can’t grow a beard if you keep cutting it off every day. What you stop shaving will depend on the type of beard you are going to grow.

For a Yeard or a full beard you don’t want to shave anything for at least 3 months. This will give your beard time to fill out so you know what you’re working with. For a goatee and mustache you can shave the sides and neck. In the beginning I would use something like the Goatee Saver until you get use to shaving around your goatee.

Just remember it’s easy to shave off, but you can’t stick it back on, you have to wait for your hair to grow back.

Caring for your Beard

So now that you have a goal in mind and you’ve stopped shaving you need to start taking care of your beard. I’m sorry to say there is no “Miracle Grow” on the market that will help you grow a big bushy beard overnight. There are however a few things you can do to help your beard be health and in turn and a healthy beard will also grow a bit faster.

So how do you take care of your beard? First find a beard oil, and beard balm. There are dozens of brands out there, all with different scents and at various price points. Find a beard oil and balm you like at a price you like and use them. You can actually check out The Dapper Man on YouTube to see reviews on various beard products including beard oils and balms.

When getting ready to put oils and balms into your beard I recommend that you apply them to a damp beard.

Bead Oils – Protect and moisturize your beard and skin underneath. Take 2-4 drops of beard oil into you slightly wet hands and rub it into your beard. Beard oils and balms are very important because they will help keep your beard from itching, a prime reason most men quick growing their beards.

Beard Balms – Also help moisturize your beard, but also help hold your beard for styling. To use beard balm scrape our dole out a small amount, about the size of a nickle in your palm. Rub your hands together to melt the balm and coat your hands, then run your hands down and through your beard.

Finally comb or brush your beard to evenly distribute the oil and balm throughout your beard.

A quick note about beard balms, there are three types of beard balms. The first, has little to no hold, the second is a “utility balm” which mixes hold and moisturizer, the third is high hold balm. Each brand is different so try several brands to find one you like when you’re first starting out.

What Else Can I Do?

Other things you can do to help your beard grow include taking a multivitamin, drink plenty of water, exercise, in general take good care of yourself and the effect will carry over to your beard.

Don’t overwash your beard. Wash your beard with a beard shampoo once a week. In between washes you can scrub your beard with water, or even “Co-Wash” your beard. (Conditioner Wash).

Let it Grow and Let it Flow

Last ti for growing a beard, just give it time. Don’t shave it or trim it for at least 3 months (unless you’re going for the stubble look). This will allow your beard to be the best it can be, no matter the style you choose.

When it is time to trim your beard go to a real life barber. Don’t go to a chain store, stylists are not trained or licensed to use razors. Find an actual barber and tell him or her it’s time to trim your beard. Tell him what you’re looking for in a beard and work with him or her to determine exactly what to do with your beard.
