Whisky Review: Glenmorangie 10yr

The Dapper Man reviews Glenmorangie Original (10 year old Single Malt Scotch Whisky). A few months ago I was given a Glenmorangie Sampler that included four 100ml blends of Glenmorangie Scotch Whisky. They included:

  • Glenmorangie (original)
  • Lasanta
  • Nectar D’Or
  • Quinta Ruban

Today I’m going to open and sample the Glenmorangie (Original) 10 year old Single Malt Scotch.

For a brief history and primer on scotch please read our Scotch 101 article.

History of Glenmorangie

Glenmorangie was established in 1843 and is from the highlands so in general the flavor profile should be light (not a lot of peat or smoke). Below is the description from Glenmorangie’s website.

The original expression of our elegant, floral spirit and the real backbone of the Glenmorangie range. A ten-year-old single malt, Glenmorangie Original is produced by marrying the delicate spirit that emerges from Scotland’s tallest stills, with first and second fill American white oak casks. It is here, maturing for ten long years in a range of ex-bourbon casks such as our famous slow-grown and air-dried ‘designer casks’ from Missouri, that our raw spirit develops a perfect balance between sweetness and complexity. Resulting in a mature spirit that is soft, mellow and creamy. Perfect for enjoying at any time.

Glenmorangie 10 Year Old Single Malt Scotch

Aroma: The scent of citrus and ripening peaches is softened by the aroma of vanilla.

Taste: First, vanilla is detected on the tongue before it ripples along the palate bringing a burst of flowery fruitiness.

Finish: About a minute after tasting, you are left with a clean and salving aftertaste with hints of orange and peach.

Do I get all those flavors? No, but I’m still developing my palate and learning how to taste different flavors. What I will say is that I like Glenmorangie 10yr and suggest you try it if given a chance. It’s light, smooth, and flavorful.

Thank you for visiting The Dapper Man we hope you have a fantastic day.

Year Long Beard (Yeard) – Week 1 Review

Below is my Year Long Beard (Yeard) – Week 1 Review.

That’s right it has been one full week since my last shave, how do I feel about the first week of my year long beard?

Well as I’ve been clean shaven for most of my life I wanted to shave. I really wanted to bring up the neckline to just above the adam’s apple. This is typically the spot you want your bear to end. I reached out to George Bruno AKA The Sultan of Silver and he said one of his biggest beard regrets is trimming the beard in the very beginning. He recommends not touching the beard for at least 6-12 weeks to allow the beard to grow and fill in fully before styling the beard.

Overall the beard is coming in nicely, very evenly, very little itch. Most of the itching I’m getting is from where my collar is hitting the stubble. To get rid of the itch I use a combination of beard oil, and beard balm. You don’t need a lot of beard oil or balm at this stage of the beard, but they do help.

You can see our articles on Beard OIl, and Beard Balm on our Beard Care page for more information on beard oil, beard balm, and beard wax.

Year Long Beard (Yeard) – Beard Reset

This is it, today I start my Year Long Beard Journey with what I’m calling my Year Long Beard (Yeard) – Beard Reset. Today I shave my goatee so that I can start my Year Long Beard with a cleanly shaven face.

as I’ve decided to shave so I can start my year long beard fresh I’ve decided to get a straight razor shave from a barber. This is something that I think all men should get done at least once in their life as there is nothing better in the realm of shaving than a straight razor shave from a barber. I went to Dapperly Cuts by Kendra, she is a local barber, and she shaved my goatee. You can see a video of my last shave for 365 days below.

If you want to see my last shave for 365 days you can see it below.
