Year Long Beard (Yeard) – Week 9 Review

Year Long Beard (Yeard) Week 9 Review

Weekly Beard Update

Mrs. Dapper Man’s word of the week is “Lumberjacky”. I guess this week I looked like a lumberjack, I think she’s just making up words at this point.

My last shave was on September 2nd. I just finished my 9th week of not shaving and I’m surprised at how my beard is shaping up. I did not expect the red to stay visible, I figured it would be drowned out by the black. Also I’ve noticed my mustache is getting long enough that I can comb it o the sides. A few more months and I’ll be able to handlebar it.

Overall I’m enjoying my Yeard and everything that goes along with growing a beard. I’ve noticed that I notice beards more now that I have one, and I find people like talking about their beards.

Year Long Beard (Yeard) – Week 8 Review

Year Long Beard (Yeard) Week 8 Review

Weekly Beard Update

Mrs. Dapper Man’s descriptor of the week is “Bushy”.

After eight weeks of not shaving at all and growing a beard I agree my beard is bushy. It is filling in well, but not quite long enough to weigh enough to stay straight. My beard continues to darken and the red is harder to see. The lighter patches on my cheeks are mostly gone and strangely the hair on my neck is longer than the hair on my chin.

My mustache is filling out and getting some length, my hope is that in a month or so I will be able to start sweeping it sideways and begin to handlebar it. I still have a sparse patch right between my nostrils.

That’s it for my week 8 review of my beard, thank you for visiting The Dapper Man we hope you have a fantastic day.

Year Long Beard (Yeard) – Week 6 Review

Year Long Beard (Yeard) Week 6 Review

Weekly Beard Update

Hello All and welcome to Greg’s Year Long Beard (Yeard) – Week 6 Review. This week we hear from Mrs. Dapper Man and about how she thinks my beard is, and what colors are in my beard.

So what does Mrs. Dapper Man say about my beard, she says it is sheepy. She says my beard was starting to curl like a sheep’s.

Also still seeing red in my beard, not a lot but some. Especially in the sunlight. but the red in my beard is slowing being drowned out by darker colors. My mustache is starting to slowly thicken up, my cheeks are filling in nicely and my chin is thick with spots of gray.

For daily updates on my Year Long Beard Journey you can follow The Dapper Man on Facebook. I post pictures every evening of my Year Long Beard.

Year Long Beard (Yeard) – Week 5 Review

Hello all and welcome to my Year Long Beard (Yeard) – Week 5 Review.

This week was a bit interesting for my beard. Not only have I noticed my beard is coming in thicker, but the products I was using didn’t seem to be doing much for my beard. I will do a review on the products in the future, but my beard felt like dry straw and I was breaking out under my beard so I changed back to some tried and true Honest Amish products.

I’ve noticed more red in my beard, especially on the cheeks and a couple white or gray hairs on my chin. I like the various colors I think it gives my beard character. I do expect the red to eventually be drowned out with darker hair. As for the white I don’t mind them at all.

I’m hoping my mustache will start growing a bit faster, it seems that it is the slowest growing portion of my facial hair. It’s also a bit thin in the middle. I think it is just a matter of time before it fills in like the rest.

Mrs. Dapper Man suggested I add her one word description for my beard for the week in my weekly review. This week my beard was prickly.

Year Long Beard (Yeard) – Week 4 Review

Hello All and welcome to Greg’s Year Long Beard (Yeard) – Week 4 Review.

So it has been 28 days since I started my Yeard. What is a Yeard? A Yeard is a Year Long Beard. The idea is to grow a beard for a year. There are two types of yeards. The first are year long beards that people will occasionally trim to keep neat and tidy. The other, the more extreme, and more authentic are year long beards that have no trimming, no shaving, no plucking, or waxing.

My Year Long Beard Journey started 28 days ago. 28 days seems so long ago, but it really is. In the last 28 days I have gone from freshly shaved to a decent beard coming in. I have red on the cheeks and gray in the chin.

So what’s next in the Yeard Journey? My guess is that my beard will continue to grow and fill out over the next couple months. I expect my cheeks to fill out more. It looks like the slowest part will be my mustache, but I have 11 more months to go so I’m sure it will fill in nicely.

I hope enjoyed this update on my Yeard. Soon I will be doing a video with Mrs. Dapper Man to get her thoughts on the Yeard, beards in general, and starting up The Dapper Man brand.

Year Long Beard (Yeard) – Week 3 Review

My Year Long Beard (Yeard) – Week 3 Review is here. This week has been pretty uneventful beard wise. Now that my beard is coming in I’ve noticed a lot of red. I’ve continued using the beard oil, and balm to keep my beard soft, and to prevent itching.

You can see photos of my Year Long Beard journey on The Dapper Man Facebook page.

I have purchased a Clubman Pinaud 3-1 Beard kit. It includes a beard oil, a beard balm, and a beard conditioner. I will be testing these products for a few weeks and will create a video where I review them.

Year Long Beard (Yeard) – Week 1 Review

Below is my Year Long Beard (Yeard) – Week 1 Review.

That’s right it has been one full week since my last shave, how do I feel about the first week of my year long beard?

Well as I’ve been clean shaven for most of my life I wanted to shave. I really wanted to bring up the neckline to just above the adam’s apple. This is typically the spot you want your bear to end. I reached out to George Bruno AKA The Sultan of Silver and he said one of his biggest beard regrets is trimming the beard in the very beginning. He recommends not touching the beard for at least 6-12 weeks to allow the beard to grow and fill in fully before styling the beard.

Overall the beard is coming in nicely, very evenly, very little itch. Most of the itching I’m getting is from where my collar is hitting the stubble. To get rid of the itch I use a combination of beard oil, and beard balm. You don’t need a lot of beard oil or balm at this stage of the beard, but they do help.

You can see our articles on Beard OIl, and Beard Balm on our Beard Care page for more information on beard oil, beard balm, and beard wax.

Year Long Beard (Yeard) – Beard Reset

This is it, today I start my Year Long Beard Journey with what I’m calling my Year Long Beard (Yeard) – Beard Reset. Today I shave my goatee so that I can start my Year Long Beard with a cleanly shaven face.

as I’ve decided to shave so I can start my year long beard fresh I’ve decided to get a straight razor shave from a barber. This is something that I think all men should get done at least once in their life as there is nothing better in the realm of shaving than a straight razor shave from a barber. I went to Dapperly Cuts by Kendra, she is a local barber, and she shaved my goatee. You can see a video of my last shave for 365 days below.

If you want to see my last shave for 365 days you can see it below.
